HW projects - Disposable battery capacity tests
This is a raw, straightforward battery life / capacity test using simple resistive load to squeeze out all the power from the battery in one single run without letting the battery "rest" at any point during discharging. It should be noted that at higher discharge currents some of the more expensive alkalines, nickel oxy hydroxide and lithium batteries that are mainly intended to be used in high drain digital appliances could possibly do a lot better if compared to older and cheaper battery types than indicated on the test results, especially if they would be used under non continuous load.

All the tested batteries were purchased fresh, no free samples from battery manufacturers, importers or distributors were used. The test is not focused on some specific battery technology, so some of the batteries may (and do) have different chemistries but are mainly alkaline, them being the most common type on the market. Rechargeable types are not included, only disposable, single use only batteries. The idea of this test is not to compare their price / capacity ratio either, so no price data is included (prices may also vary a lot).
I will test new batteries every now and then and add the results to the list.
It is also possible that new sizes / types will be added in the future.
